Services Provided
SSAR provides highly skilled personnel and their search dogs
that are available at any time through the Sarasota County 911
System. Personnel and K9s alike undergo rigorous training to
ensure our ability to respond to a variety of situations,
environments, and conditions. Most of our training is wilderness
oriented, as we are a TYPE I WILDERNESS TEAM.
Our training experiences also include helicopters, boats of
various sizes and types, ladder work with fire departments, and
water searches. We are able to provide air scent dogs as well as
tracking, trailing, and human remains (cadaver) trained dogs.
Members are skilled in wilderness topography with Weather,
Observer, and Land Navigation knowledge and proficiency. We are
a completely volunteer organization that is on call and ready
for rapid deployment 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Our members and dogs are tested through various agencies
including state evaluators for most of our K9s and the Law
Enforcement Bloodhound Association (LEBA) in Maryland for our
bloodhounds.
